About Books Films Plays and Songs
James with daughter Susan (pictured right)
James Smith studied short story and novel writing with the Northern Writing Bureau International in England before moving to Australia, where, while continuing to write books, he also wrote screenplays, poetry, songs and musical stage-plays. One of which was professionally performed by the London Overseas Theater Company.
In 1987 James won an international writing award presented to him by Sir Robert Muldoon (ex Prime Minister of New Zealand) at the Sydney Opera House.
James recently re-visited his back catalogue of original work, editing and re-writing a selection of it to a high standard; he now has a worthy amount of quality work available.

Anyone interested in film making
Make your own full length 90 minute film at home. It's simple, and it's fun. Use the 'Before you Go' musical stage play, located in the Book section, as a film script. It has only 4 actors and is all staged / filmed in one room. A spare room in your house maybe? Also, if the whole play / film is to much, maybe just an interesting scene / part of the story will do.
The script is in easy to read book form and the songs, a vocal guide and the music in high and low keys is available in the 'Original Songs ( 1 ) section. If a cast member can't sing very well they can simply mime the songs while playing the vocal guide.
